I'm also waitlisted at Duke. Got the email this morning. Professor Neander wants to talk over the phone, but that would be impossible, given that I'm currently out of the country for Spring Break. I'll have to sort that out somehow.

Target class of 4, out of 120 applicants. Provided I get in, they'll be offering a generous funding package of full tuition + $19000 stipend.
I'm understandably excited as Duke is one my top choices.
What's your area?

For the person who posted on TGC about getting rejection letter from Tufts via postmail, is your status on the website shown as rejected?

Or for all of those applied to Tufts, is your status on website indicating that you're accepted or rejected?

I checked my status but it still says the decision is not available. I just hope that means a wailist does exist and I'm on it.
I got an acceptance from Tufts on Feb. 27, so those have probably already been sent across the board. Last I checked, though, my online application status still had not changed — and this was weeks after I got the acceptance! If you're in, you should have been notified by e-mail.

That said, I don't know how the waitlist situation looks, and I am probably going to turn down the offer. (Not yet sure, and I'm waiting on financial details.)

I applied to 6 schools and I only have two waitlists so far, one top 25, one top 50. Only two more places left to hear back from (Hopkins and Columbia). Darn!!!! Coming to think of it, I should have applied to more places.
A wait list to acceptance is as good as a first-round acceptance. And when you finish your dissertation defense, no one will care how you got in. Keep the hope alive.

Waitlisted. I was pretty surprised--applied there and kind of forgot about it.
There are some schools that people rarely discuss here, and 'Cuse seems to be one of them.
just got the email?

Email just came.

I'm tempted to bet that I'm on more wait lists than anybody on this board. Incredible.

BT.
We seem to have applied to a lot of the same schools. Will you be visiting Madison?

Has anyone heard anything from these guys? I recall an acceptance very early on and someone posted a rejection on gradcafe.
A friend of mine was accepted at UC Davis back in mid-February.

Anyone received any information about where they are on the list? Does anyone know anything about when/if this information will be released?
I have received nothing beyond the initial wait list email. I do recall them mentioning that an update would be send in March.

Any ideas for questions that will both help show interest in a school and be usefully informative?
I received a friendly email from a professor at a department at which I was waitlisted inviting me to ask "anything". So I asked:

1. if there are any good sushi restaurants around the campus/dorm area. Seriously, this matters to me.
2. living conditions. including the presence of galleries and regular art exhibitions, classical music performances, concerts.
3. if a certain professor will be remaining in the department for the foreseeable future.
Are the rest of us just waiting for teeny envelopes?
By way of summarizing past posts, it seems that some people have gotten acceptance emails (one acceptee apparently declined). Someone called the department, and they said everyone would be hearing back this week as they were still reviewing applications. Another person called the department about receiving a letter saying their financial aid had been declined, but the department said that receiving that letter was no indication of whether they had been accepted or rejected. In sum, no one knows for sure, and everyone is waiting to hear.
Seriously, next year I'm going to apply to 25 programs and a safety!
Although I don't know your background, I think there is no direct correlation between applying to a lot of schools and getting into at least one school. I was rejected by schools that rank lower than the schools that accepted or waitlisted me. The reason may be that I couldn't give convincing reasons why those programs are good fit. As I was waiting anxiously for the admissions results, I also thought of reapplying next year. But my plan was to apply to fewer schools and to strengthen every aspect of my application. The idea of applying more schools than I did this year did not occur to me. Anyways, you definitely should not give up.
I'm in at DePaul, BC and Northwestern. Obviously I won't be going to all three. I'm still making up my mind, but for those of you waitlisted, at least two of you should get in when it's all said and done over the course of the next few weeks. Also, I'm waitlisted at Emory, but haven't heard back and don't anticipate going there, which is alright with me - I should have known better than to apply to the philosophy program with the intent of working with someone in Comp. Lit.
Continental? I'm assuming that DePaul is your best fit, unless you applied to NSSR.

Got an email from Dr. Brogan this afternoon! Straight acceptance would have been better, but I am very happy!

Strange. The first report of action from Nova is a wait listing.
So far there have been posts about acceptance only. Has anyone got any email about being waitlisted? (Is there even a waitlist?) And how does NIU normally reject its applicants? via snail mail?
I received the original acceptance notification yesterday, and then today I was notified that I was on the waitlist for funding. (I was given a specific number, that I do not feel comfortable revealing here.)

I don't know if this helps.

Anyone looking at University of South Florida? I'm on the waitlist for funding.
I'm still waiting to hear back from Fordham, UC Riverside, and Emory, and have been waitlisted by Kentucky. With the exception of Fordham, I've heard little to nothing about these other schools on here. Has anyone gotten any news at all concerning the above schools??
I would definitely recommend talking to some of the current graduate students at Kentucky. I've heard nothing but horror stories about the place. I know they've lost a lot of faculty in the last few years and that their financial situation is terrible. Holcomb and Callahan are on permanent medical leave and not likely to return, Zurn is up for a job at UMASS-Boston, Schatzki moved into administration, Force is in phased retirement, Leaman doesn't participate in the department, Perreiah and Bruzina are both well over 70, and Superson is looking to leave. Doesn't look like that leaves one much to work with. Frankly I'm surprised the department isn't in receivership!
