My status on OSU's app.status page changed from 'Evaluation' to 'AcadReview' a few days ago. Has anyone else noticed such a change?
Mine says the same thing. I never noticed it change from eval to review. But I just checked it yesterday for the first time. I would assume based on last year's results that OSU would send out some acceptances by tomorrow. I'm hoping.

During the evening of the first Thursday of February last year, UNC sent out a large number of rejection emails. Acceptance phone calls were made on the following Monday. Perhaps some action will take place this evening.

With Tar Heel basketball playing unpredictably poorly this year, maybe anything is possible with UNC admissions this year.
I'm at UNC, and I was walking by and saw someone reading an application and laughing. Hope it wasn't yours.

Hi Everyone,

I'm wondering if people have heard from any MA programs about acceptances. I checked websites to see if they mentioned deadlines and the closest thing I saw to one was on Tufts and said only "March or April"! Since I know a lot of other disciplines are sending out notifications, what do people know about this??

I applied to Tufts, Brandeis, NIU, UW-Milwaukee

Thanks so much!
From past experience, MA programs tend to be a bit longer in notifying applicants than PhD programs.

UCSB?

Anyone else still waiting for a decision from UCSB? Or am I the only one?

When I log into the website the "decision available" heading is gray with a cog next to it and there isn't a decision provided.
same here

I applied to 12 different schools...one of my top two sent me an e-mail saying they are reviewing the applications and it reminds me that I must reply by April 15th...is this a sign that I got in? To be honest I am nervous as all hell, and I hope that this might be a sign that they are at least taking me into consideration...does anyone know if an early e-mail means anything? (I have not gotten any early contact from any other school accept Univesity of Texas Austin)
I imagine that it doesn't mean much. But let's test that one: I got an email like that from Brown. Other than the standard 'your application is complete' email that several programs send, that's the only such program I got an email like that from. Did anybody (who applied to Brown) not get one like that from them?

All of Berkeley's acceptances should be out today.
Are you the one who posted on Grad Cafe? Why do you think they should all be out today? Is that what the acceptance email said?

Just wondering if anyone 'round these parts has an interest in the history of philosophy with a focus on the early modern period...?
I'm down with Kant.

Somebody posted an acceptance on Gradcafe. Anybody care to confirm/fill-in/explain?
My thinking is that it is a fake. Typically, UNC relays acceptances by phone and in bunches. I suspect someone is messing with our heads given the above post about imminent decisions.
Is anyone looking to study Rawls or Wittgenstein in graduate school? I wrote my application essay on Rawls, and plan to study his work as a grad student. I am obsessed with W. and his later work (investigations, b/b book, on certainty). Is anyone else looking to study any of these philosophers?
My writing sample was a pragmatic criticism of Rawls' magnum opus.

So, some rejections have started popping up and several of us immediately guessed that it was a cull based on numbers. However, the most recent rejection on tgc has the details "Graduate GPA: 3.97; V:790, Q:750, AW: 5.5 ; 3 publications and numerous conferences. ??".

Thoughts?
I don't think it's simply screening based on stats. They probably read at least the letters.

However, I find the '??' amusing. Did this person really EXPECT to get into one of the most competitive departments in the world? I think Rutgers is a long shot, no matter who you are.

I got rejected too
got emai from Charles McCarty
what's the word on Notre Dame HPS?
I heard Don Howard is pretty straight up legit.
Got presumably the same email as the above poster - sent by Linda Harl, signed by Charles McCarty. Posted results on Grad Cafe. Based on past years at TGC, it looks like they contact those accepted a bit later than those rejected (...process of elimination, maybe?). So if you haven't heard from them today, that's probably good news.
Did anyone else list feminist philosophy as one of their areas of interest?

Any of my Continental brethren getting a little antsy? It seems that they like to take their time, especially in comparison to our analytic pals. Schools like Duquesne, Loyola, Villanova and so forth seem to wait until late Feb/early March to send out notices. Ho hum...
Analytic "pals"???

I don't know about my fellow Analytic brothers and sisters... but we don't think you guys do real philosophy...fyi

So, last year the first rejections were Feb 9, then 10, then 13, then 16 (although there seems to be some mixing of the dates going on, so it's possible that rejections only happened on the 9th or only on the 9th and 13th).

The first acceptance was Feb 20, 11 days after the first rejection. Also, Feb 9 was the second Monday of the month, and Feb 20 was Friday the week after. They seem to be two days ahead (doing it this Friday rather than next Monday), and it seems like a decent guess that we'll see acceptances on the 15th, which is a Monday and the proper number of days away.

HOWEVER. In 2008 the first rejections were Feb 7 (more on the 8th), and the first acceptance was Feb 10. Feb 7th was the first Thursday, and Feb 10th was the first Sunday. If this is the pattern that holds, we'll see acceptances on Monday the 8th.

....Okay, I'm going to go do something more productive than this.

Rutgers

Rutgers is now in their final stages. There are about 20 to 25 applications left, for anywhere from 12 to 8 offers.

I predict we will see acceptances next week, or possibly the week after.

How do you know this?

Anyone have inside info on when Riverside acceptances might go out this year? If the posts from last year over at TGC are any indication, we might see some acceptances on Monday.
ad committee met last week. expect decisions to roll out soon (a week or so).

if all of these top-leiter programs know how much angst is involved in the application process
I think there's a fair bit of angst for any program.
Anyone have an idea how long the "short" waitlist is for Stanford?
I'm still unsure how much weight to put on the Stanford postings at TGC. Have they sent out all acceptances and wait list notifications?
