Seriously, congratulations.

Also seriously, I hate you.
TGC has a posting for Ohio State. Anyone want to share information about it? (My application is apparently still under Academic Review.)
Still under review here too.

Me too. :(
My inbox blew up today.

I got wait listed at NYU, accepted at Rutgers with full funding, wait listed at Yale, accepted at Cornell and MIT.

Whew. At least I know I'm going somewhere. This wait has been terrible.

-Very Excited soon to be PhD Student
I call shenanigans on this.

Someone posted an acceptance to Chicago yesterday, but there haven't been any more acceptances posted. The post sounded legitimate, but now I'm wondering whether it was in fact true. Has Chicago sent out all their acceptances? I thought they sent out their acceptance on the same day?
word, i am wondering/worrying about the same thing...

How many people applied to Arizona but have yet to hear anything? There were a whole bunch of rejections posted yesterday - wondering whether no news is good news.
I for one haven't heard anything.

I keep hearing about people being updated about their status via the application website...I can't seem to find anything specific on my applications. I applied to Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Chicago, Penn and Stanford - do any of those schools post information that I'm missing?
Of those schools I only applied to Chicago, and I do not see anything with respect to status updates there.
I'm curious in how many people have applied exclusively to Top 20 programs.

A follow-up: if you are part of this crowd, what makes you feel safe doing so? (Are your stats stellar? Is your WS publishable? Has your supervisor promised to make some calls on your behalf?)
I did (7 programs ranging from NYU to CUNY in PGR--for what it's worth). Stats not stellar (I studied abroad); WS certainly not publishable; one letter from a professor at a top-15 department, two letters from abroad--all presumably good. I've got an MA in philosophy (in Europe) and I'm completing one in history of legal thought (same institution). Other factors I prefer not to mention may count in favor of my admission but this is far from sure, among which the fact that I've studied philosophy for a long time (7 years) and covered a broad range of areas. But I'm far from confident, very far (and got rejected from Rutgers).

Still standing after two rounds of rejections from each, but of course it really means nothing until getting an actual acceptance/waitlist from them. Hurry up!
There's a Syracuse admit up on Grad Cafe. Any details? I have to know whether I need to start crying or not.
For what it's worth, last year Syracuse went all the way through its wait list and then made offers to some of the applicants they had rejected (I believe the same thing happened with Missouri). So, a rejection is not NECESSARILY the end of the line.

If your interests were in general philosophy of science, would it be better to go to a HPS program or into a philosophy department?
Philosophy--You likely can take all the HOPOS courses you want, and you get some latitude to do coursework in other areas (e.g., epistemology, metaphysics).

A UMass acceptance was posted on grad cafe. Can anyone claim it? If so, care to elaborate?

Oh, and congratulations!!
The most recent tgc posting I see is OSU...?

I, too, was under the impression that Chicago notifies those accepted by phone(at least that's what their admissions page says is the case). Given the fact that the poster said he or she was accepted by e-mail, and no one else has posted an acceptance, I'm hoping (selfishly) that it was a fake. We'll see.

Would they also do this for international applicants? That seems much more costly/time consuming than just shooting a form email to all of the people accepted.

USC?

It looks like 6 acceptances went out according to TGC. Anybody get a waitlist email?

This is my top choice and I still hope I have a chance...
They made their waitlist choices already. I am one of two.
I am a bit confused right now and am wondering whether someone who has more experience with US (graduate) schools could help me out.

I'm from Continental Europe and I applied to USC. Yesterday, when a few people seem to have gotten acceptance e-mails, I didn't hear anything. So I figured I didn't make the cut, though my online status just says, "Your file has been forwarded to the academic department for review and an admission decision." But now, today of all days, I received a USC pamphlet ("Graduate Study at USC. Preparing Leaders for the 21st Century"), containing, among other things, "Top 10 Reasons Why USC Should Be Your First Choice" and a pointer to www.usc.edu/gradreply, where I can order "more information about USC graduate studies" after entering my USC ID.

Now, on the one hand, I see no reason why USC would send me such a pamphlet after I already applied to one of their graduate programs---regardless of whether I'm rejected, wait-listed, or accepted. (Of course, given that it arrived today, the pamphlet must have been sent out before people got their acceptance e-mails.) On the other hand, I realize that just by applying I am now permanently on their address list and will probably receive useless pamphlets for the rest of my life.

Thus, I'm confused. Can anyone tell me whether it is common practice among US graduate schools to send their (rejected, wait-listed, accepted, or still undecided-on) applicants useless pamphlets? Has any other applicant at USC (maybe even someone who got accepted) received the above pamphlet?

Needless to say, I have not received any such pamphlets from any of the other nine schools I applied to. So, in a way, it's nice to finally have something tangible to obsess over.
I did not apply to USC, but have I received pamphlets from two schools I had applied to already in January. The pamphlets encouraged me to consider the programs and check out more information, but they didn't seem appropriate for someone who had just applied. In my case, I assumed they were just useless advertisements sent to everyone on their mailing list, but your case might be different-- I hope it is!

Some parts of the north east are shut down for snow. At Princeton, everything is shut down for non-essential personell which is pretty much unheard of. So I wouldn't expect anything from schools between Philly and Boston...
Does anyone know which of our lovely schools are closed (besides Princeton)?

Does the poster on TGC or anyone else have information on the Catholic University of America?
I know they do rolling admission. Perhaps this person submitted their application very early and that is why they have heard back and no one else has.
