I just tried logging into my UNC application online status and the page keeps kicking me out. I don't think there website is down because I can view the application itself.
wondering if this means they're in the middle of updating the status' online.
anybody else having this problem right now (9:57 AM EST)?
Huh. Same problem here (10:18AM EST), and it only kicks me out if I try clicking "view status" rather than "view app."

I'm still not sure we can conclude from this that they're updating statuses. But we can hope.

So we've got rumors that both UofT and Rutgers are going to make decisions this week, but so far all is quiet and the week's almost over. Think we're going to start getting a flood of news, or nothing?

Any other predictions of imminent decisions?
Who knows? the info posted has been really dubious this season. I'm taking everything with a giant heap of salt.
That said, notice that Rutgers' rejections both came at the end of the week (Thursday/Friday), so there is a reasonable likelihood that more news from Rutgers is due between now and the end of the day tomorrow. Of course, it could just be a 3rd wave of rejections

Looks like Stony Brook started sending out rejections along with NW. I have a feeling that I'll be hearing from both of them shortly myself.
Sigh...
Same here. Haven't heard anything yet, but I wish they would just get the pain over with.

Two questions:

(1) Has anyone else heard nothing regarding their status?

(2) Has anyone here received a waitlist email? I see there are two on the grad cafe, but I didn't see anyone mentioning it here.

I emailed the department yesterday to ask about my status, but I have received no response yet. I was curious if anyone else's curiosity has gotten the better of them and had better luck than me.
I'm in the same boat. I just e-mailed them an up-to-date transcript and they replied they would send it to the application committee. I inferred that they were still reviewing, though that's very likely wishful thinking.

What schools actually do covey information about admission decisions on their website? Do we have to wait for a hypothetical phone call or email from NYU, Harvard, Princeton and CUNY for example? It seems Yale and Columbia do provide a way to learn one's fate online, but Harvard for instance does not provide any information whatsoever (which sucks). Also I guess that when people start being accepted to those schools, if you don"t have news, you don't have to wait for a notification to infer you were rejected. Am I right?
I know that UCLA, UCSD, Michigan, and Rutgers post decisions on the website. Also, schools that do post decisions online (Yale, Columbia, Penn) use applyyourself.com, so it stands to reason that other schools that use that system (e.g. Pitt) could post online if they choose to. Schools like Harvard, Brown, & NYU that use Embark probably do not.
But in any case, what's the difference? Even with the schools that do, it looks like if you have to access the website, the news ain't good. I'm not sure, but I think that all acceptances are conveyed more directly.

Congrats, whoever. Today is turning out interesting, after all.
If the accepted person is around, mind sharing any information (like how many offers, your area)? I'm curious because only one has shown up on tgc.

Anybody else waiting for their rejection? I know 4 acceptances went out on 2/12...
I'm still waiting. Have any rejections gone out? Has anyone been notified about a waitlist?

Saw a Utah post on TGC. Anyone here receive an acceptance today?
How many of you did send more than three letters of recommendation?
I sent four to most of my schools, and, in one case, five.

True story: my adviser just called the adcom at a school I shall not name bastards for ultimately denying my application after communicating with him about me and intimating their interest in me. He even told me that they led him to think that they would accept me in the end! Should I feel better as a result? Probably not, but I thought it was still humorous. Also, that revealed the extent of back-and-forths between schools and professors about applicants. Anybody else have stories like this?
Have all the offers gone out? Seems odd that there were a few last Friday and then another this week, according to tgc.

Also can one expect one's status to change on the application website?

Thanks.
I was accepted and my status did not change until 7 days later, when the full funding offer was approved and sent by the graduate dept. Hope this helps!

For those of you who haven't heard anything from Northwestern, I have an update. I just called the department and was told that all acceptance and waitlist notifications have been sent. They'll have all our rejections posted on the website by tomorrow. I still had hope that there may have been some lingering waitlist notifications to best, considering that not all of us have received rejections on the website. Unfortunately, that's not the case.
Thanks. Who else is prepping to be shut out? Northwestern was the lowest ranked program that I applied to, and doubt that if I was rejected there other departments would be much more enthusiastic to take me on. Thoughts?

Just received an email that I am waitlisted at MIT. Anyone else in the same position? If so, does anyone know how made people made the waitlist. I am still waiting on a response from the department.
just curious was the email directly addressed to you, or was it to a suppressed list of recipients?

I'm just checking out of curiosity, since there's 2 postings on tgc but chatter here points to three, maybe four. How many of you are there?
One. I am one of the tgc posters.

Programs I am waiting on that there has been, seemingly, no noise from:

~Cornell
~CUNY
~Columbia
~Maryland
~Miami
~UMass

Anyone else waiting on these schools, and/or have any info or insight? The whole process has been taxing, but the waiting is the WORST!

You should look at tgc posts from last year :P.

UMD & CUNY both get back kind of late, based on last year. Also, UMD mentioned on Letier's blog that they might be supporting post-docs due to a bad job market and consequently admitting less students.

I think, but am not sure, that Cornell and Columbia get back kinda late.

UMass, though, I think there have been acceptances for.

Somebody posted a rejection to MIT on TGC. If that person is here on this board could you elaborate? Was this in response to a direct inquiry or was it an unsolicited email?
I'm late to this forum thread, but I'm probably the one you're talking about who posted the MIT rejection. The email was unsolicited, but it was from a faculty member I know there who was courteous enough to let me know right after the final meeting that I didn't get an offer.

Since this forum is anonymous I'd like to hear what some of your favorite lines from your professors are. I take it that part of what you're learning in class is the lexicon you will use when you go on to teach. I'll start with two of my favorites:
"I want you to understand how what you're saying can't possibly be true"
"You could mean one of two things by that, and they're both incoherent"

"My daughter could wake up and be just like Bertrand Russell. I mean, I like my daughter, but that'd be pretty awesome."

Fresh on my mind, since it happened today.

I'm not sure how many out there have applied to UK (so this might be a matter of indifference to most of you), but I have some insider info. One of their grad students told me that they will be making their initial offers on Wednesday of next week...

Congrats, my doppelganger. I'm the other 1. I suspect that you, like me, are hoping the 12 also got offers at MIT, Rutgers, you know, the top 10. But if you also got in one of those, then that's awesome too!
