I live abroad and I haven't heard anything from anyone, but I see people are receiving letters (of rejection or acceptance) by now. Does anyone know if there is a different timing for abroad applicants or I'm just not getting the good news and should expect bad news?
How abroad? I'm Canadian and have received acceptances and rejections from American schools, both electronic and paper.

My status is still "under review"...I wonder what this means considering the fact that two people were already notified of their acceptance..anyone else here with the same status?
I'm an undergrad at UofT and I heard that the admissions committee is meeting for one last time this Thursday.

If the person who just posted a Rutgers rejection on TGC is here, could you please kindly elaborate if this was in response to your inquiry or whether it was unsolicited?

Also, is your status on the webpage still 'No Decision?'
OP here. Actually, on second examination it appears that that was a Feb 12th rejection. So, never mind. thanks.

I hope everyone here has read this classic article: "Graduate School in the Humanities: Just Don't Go."

If not: you should.

oh look, it's this thread again!

In this article he talks about debt: we should all be getting funded PhD offers.

In another article he talks about needing to know how successful people are at getting jobs: that's what placement records are for.

Has anyone else applied to KU's PhD program and/or heard anything? There isn't much info from past years on TGC to go by.
I came very close to applying to Kansas, but ultimately chose not to. However, I think I remember their website saying that they do rolling admissions. If that's the case and your application has been complete for awhile, you might consider touching base with the grad secretary.

Should I abandon hope if I haven't received an acceptance yet?

Somebody just posted a Rutgers acceptance on Grad Cafe. If that person is here, could you please kindly tell us if this is from today, or whether you have posted late?
Thanks!
What's your coping method for the creeping depression that comes with watching others get acceptances while your email stays empty?

VU is accepting 5 fully-funded students. 1 additional student receives funding by way of the "philosophy and theology" assistantship, which requires that a student take X amount of classes in theology, write a dissertation that speaks to both disciplines, and usually has a TA duties either in the writing center, as support to a prof, or Y or Z.

They made their decisions last week and, to my knowledge, everyone that has been accepted has been contacted. I believe that most of the waitlisted persons have been contacted as well. Regarding the phil/theo: they have made a decision; however, I do not know if the recipient will accept or decline.
Vu means Villanova?

Have any of you received an email from JS with an offer yet?
Where else have you been admitted? Are you inclined towards accepting an offer yet? Tell us about yourselves.
and trying to get a sense of how long this list is. I see three on tgc and I make four. Anyone else out there waitlisted as well? Do you think you will accept the offer if you get one?
